Finding Jobs

E-mail

E-mail spamming can be a very effective way of finding jobs. Below is some information

Consultants will develop their own way of composing an email which is most effective to their target market.

This could include

  • Attaching an anonymous CV of an available candidate, or highlighting the USP’s of Seven and the way we operate as an agency.
  • Timing of sending the email can also be very important. If you are sending  the spam to quite a few managers, this can block up your email account for the entire day if sent in the morning, so ensure you send this towards the end of the day.
  • 17:00 seems to be a very popular time to send the email as most PA’s have gone home by this time.
  • You will gauge what time managers are responding, when do they sit and go through their emails? Some consultants have found that sending spams on a Sunday can be effective as managers will catch up on their emails on a Sunday evening before returning to work on the Monday. Other consultants find that spamming on a Monday or Thursday can produce a good rate of job return.

Calls to Managers

This is the best and most effective way of getting jobs.

  • It’s easier to say NO over email than over the phone, so the best option is always to call and speak to managers directly.
  • Speak to the decision maker – Team Managers will not always be the hiring manager and may not know the requirements of other teams.
  • Time to call – 08:30 – 09:00 or after 17:00 proves very successful as senior managers working day usually consists of various meeting that fall inside core working hours.
  • If you find a Manager who has vacancies, always ask if any other teams are looking for staff. This is an aspect that some consultants overlook because they are so focused on finding candidates for the initial job.
  • Always make sure you obtain all the relevant information regarding the job, as you never know when you will be able to get through to the manager again.

Check the Internet/Other Recruiters Websites

We need to ensure that we check the internet as other recruiters may advertise positions/jobs that you may not have on. You can then make your own investigations to try and get these positions on yourself.
